Catherine Gordeladze
Catherine Gordeladze ( Georgian ეკატერინე გორდელაძე , Ekaterine Gordeladze ; born May 31, 1971 in Tbilisi , Georgian SSR ) is a German- Georgian pianist and university teacher. She lives in Frankfurt am Main .
Live and act
Catherine Gordeladze began her first piano lessons at the age of six at the Central Music School for Gifted Children in Tbilisi , Georgia with Neli Gatchetschiladze. Celebrated as a child prodigy, she gave her first orchestral appearance at the age of seven. She gave her first piano recital when she was ten. Only one year later she played Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concerto with the Georgian Philharmonic. At the age of eleven, she took part in a gala concert at the Tbilisi Opera in the presence of the former Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze , which was broadcast directly on television throughout the former Soviet Union.
She first studied at the Tbilisi Conservatory with the Georgian teacher Nodar Gabunia , a student of Alexander Goldenweiser . In Germany she continued her studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main with Bernhard Wetz and Rainer Hoffmann and at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar with Rolf-Dieter Arens and completed her training with various awards and concert exams. Parallel to her studies, she took regular lessons from Alexis Weissenberg .
Catherine Gordeladze also received further musical suggestions from personalities such as Paul Badura-Skoda , Bernd Glemser , Konstantin Scherbakow , Joachim Volkmann, Bernardringenissen, Wladimir Krainew , Irina Lein-Edelstein , Rudolf Kehrer . The pianist received a scholarship from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung during her studies . In 1999 she was accepted into the foundation “Podium Young Musicians” and supported with a scholarship from the Rotary Club “Alte Oper” Frankfurt am Main.
Catherine Gordeladze is currently making guest appearances on important concert stages and is also a regular chamber musician: she was heard with violinist David Garrett at the “The Next Generation III” festival. Numerous radio and television recordings were made in Georgia, the former Soviet Union, the Czech Republic, Germany, England, Switzerland, the USA, Mexico, New Zealand and Australia as well as Hong Kong.
Catherine Gordeladze is a lecturer at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts .
Since 2019 she has been teaching piano at the Kalaidos Musikhochschule Zurich as a lecturer in the artistic major subject .

- 2002: IV. Dietzenbach International Music Festival, 1st prize (sponsorship prize)
- 2002: Honorary award and medal from the French Légion d'Honneur
- 2005: Bruno Heck Prize from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation
- 2014: Silver and bronze medal for the CD "American Rhapsody" of the Global Music Awards, USA.
- 2017: Award of the City of Frankfurt am Main as “Outstanding Personality with a Migration Background”. Mayor Peter Feldmann presented the certificate at a ceremony in the Paulskirche in Frankfurt .

- 2011: CD with works by Nikolai Kapustin , from Naxos (label) and Hr2-kultur. (Selected as a CD tip on Radio Bremen . In addition, the CD ranked eighth on the NAXOS top bestseller list for three months and was broadcast several times on BBC Radio 3. )
- 2014: CD American Rhapsody by Antes Edition and Hr2-Kultur. (Awarded silver and bronze medals by the Global Music Awards (USA) and chosen as CD TIPP in Hr2-kultur, Radio Bremen and Journal Frankfurt ; also an official "recommendation" from Klassik.com .)
- 2017: CD Dance Fantasies , by Antes Edition and Hr2-kultur. ("CD of the week" from Radio BBC Scotland on the program Classics Unwrapped . The CD was also recommended by Hr2-kultur, recommended by Klassik.com and "Album of the week" by WDR 3 ; Lady Magazine (UK ) chose the CD as "CD of the week" and Pianodao (UK ) chose it as "Best of 2017 Shortlist")
