Catherine d'Amboise ( 1482 - January 1, 1549 ) was a French poet and patroness .

Life

She was the youngest of six children of Charles I d'Amboise , Lord of Chaumont-sur-Loire , and Catherine de Chauvigny, sister of Charles II d'Amboise , Marshal of France and niece of Cardinal Georges d'Amboise , the First Minister of King Louis XII. .

She married three times:

  1. Christophe de Tournon, Lord of Beauchastel , Bailli von Vivarais , cupbearer of Charles VIII , † probably 1500
  2. 1501 Philibert de Beaujeu, Lord of Lignières and Amplepuis , Seneschal of Auvergne , † 1542
  3. 1542 Ludwig von Kleve (Louis de Clèves), Count of Auxerre , † 1545

After her nephew Georges d'Amboise, son of her late brother Charles II, died in the Battle of Pavia in February 1525, she inherited all of her family's estates, Chaumont-sur-Loire , Meillant , Sagonne , Charenton , Ravel , Dampierre and other. At the same time, she brought Georges half-brother Michel Bâtard d'Amboise, who was around 20 years old , to her castle Lignières near Bourges , but later sent him away when she was bothered by his way of life.
