Celio Adán González Ascencio (born January 29, 1924 in Camajuaní , † October 17, 2004 in Mexico City ) was a Cuban singer.

From 1941 González sang in the group of Joaquín Mendivel , the Conjunto Camacho , the Trío Camaguey and the Trío Nacional . His first recording was in 1946 the Bolero En mi ceguedad by José Antonio Méndez . In 1953 he joined Alfonsín Quintanas Los Jóvenes del Cayo , with whom he undertook his first international tour to Florida and Panama.

He then sang in the Conjunto Casino , the Orquesta Sensación by Rolando Valdés and the group of Luis Santi , before joining the legendary Sonora Matancera in 1955 . With La Sonora Matancera he recorded several albums, and in 1958 one of his most famous tracks was created, the Bolero Total by Ricardo García Perdomo . He worked with the group in New York until 1965.

In 1966 Tico Records produced the albums Ahora Si and El Celio de Siempre , on the latter the successful title La Primera Piedra by the composer Mario Cavagnaro . In 1968 he went to Mexico and recorded the album Nueva vida / New Life with the group of Julio Gutiérrez . In 1974 he recorded an LP with the orchestra of Tito Puente . In the same year he took part in a concert tour of the Sonora Matancera through Colombia with Daniel Santos , Carlos Argentino and Nelson Pinedo . In 1989, alongside Celia Cruz , Daniel Santos, Vicentico Valdés , Bobby Capó , Yayo El Indio , Carlos Argentino Torres, Leo Marini and others, he took part in the events for the sixty-fifth anniversary of Sonora Matancera, Gilda Mirós and Joe Quijano in Central Park in New York and Carnegie Hall .
