Cesare Cardinal Zerba (born April 15, 1892 in Castelnuovo Scrivia , Province of Alessandria , Italy , † July 11, 1973 in Rome ) was a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Cesare Zerba received his theological and philosophical training in Stazzano , Tortona , Rome and Pavia . He received on 4 July 1915, the sacrament of Holy Orders , and then took over as chaplain at the First World War in part. He then worked as a pastor in various parishes in the Diocese of Rome . From 1924 he was also a member of the staff of the Congregation for the Order of the Sacraments . In 1932 the Pope awarded him the title of Papal Secret Chamberlain , in 1939 Cesare Zerba became Papal House Prelate and Prelate of the Supreme Court of the Apostolic Signature . Pope Pius XII appointed him secretary of the Congregation for the Sacraments in 1958.

Pope John XXIII appointed Cesare Zerba in 1962 titular Archbishop of Colossae and donated him episcopal ordination ; Co-consecrators were Archbishop Francesco Carpino , Assessor of the Consistorial Congregation , and Archbishop Pietro Parente , Assessor of the Congregation of the Holy Office . He attended the Second Vatican Council from 1962 to 1965 . Pope Paul VI took him on 22 February 1965 as cardinal priest with the pro hac vice to title Church gathered Title Diakonie Nostra Signora del Sacro Cuore in the College of Cardinals on. Cesare Cardinal Zerba died on July 11, 1973 in Rome and was buried in his birthplace.
