The Chère (English: love ) is a 65 km long river in France , which runs mainly in the Pays de la Loire region , but also touches the neighboring region of Brittany .

Course and geography

The river has its source in the municipality of Soudan , drains generally in a westerly direction and flows after 65 kilometers at the municipal boundary of Sainte-Anne-sur-Vilaine and Pierric as a left tributary into the Vilaine , not far from Sainte-Anne-sur-Vilaine. On its way, the Chère crosses the Loire-Atlantique department and for the last ten kilometers before the confluence it forms the border with the neighboring Ille-et-Vilaine department , which is already part of the Brittany region.

The Chère crosses the four hydrographic zones La Chère de l'Aron à la Vilaine , L'Aron et ses affluents , La Chère du Neant à l'Aron and La Chère de sa source au Neant , which cover a total area of ​​455 km². 88.16% of these zones are used for agriculture, 8.44% are forests and semi -natural environments , the rest are artificial areas and surfaces .
