Cha Jong-hyok (born September 25, 1985 in Pyongyang ) is a North Korean football player .

Career

He played in the football league of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea for the sports group Amrokgang , but did not play any international club games.

The defender moved up to the national team in 2005 and, among other things, played a role in qualifying for the 2006 World Cup . In the same year he was also in the squad for the final round at the East Asian Championship 2005 and took third place there. With the final round in 2008 and qualifying round in 2010 , two more, less successful, participation in the East Asian Cup followed. In 2007 he stood several times for the North Korean U-23 selection in qualifying for the 2008 Olympic Games , but failed with the team in the final qualifying round.

In the successful qualification for the 2010 World Cup , Cha formed the defensive line together with Ri Jun-il , Pak Nam-chol and Ri Kwang-chon , which in the 14 games of the 2nd and 3rd qualifying rounds remained 10 times without conceding and thus the Formed the basis for success. At the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, he was the right defender on the starting line-up in all three games, the team was eliminated with three defeats in the preliminary round.

In the summer of 2010, Cha moved to the Swiss second division club FC Wil , where Kim Kuk-jin is another North Korean under contract.
