Chambertin (* 1993 ; † February 9, 2009 ) was a dark brown Holstein stallion, out of the famous Holstein line 18 a 2.

In 1993 Chambertin was born at Hans Werner Trost's in Brunsbek . Chambertin was a serial winner in A, L and M classes for young jumpers. In 1998 and 1999 he won the final qualifications at the Bundeschampionat in Warendorf under Jörg Naeve . In 1999 he was also the Holstein national champion. Shortly afterwards, a cruciate ligament ruptured his athletic career abruptly.

In 2005 and 2006, eight and six of his offspring were qualified for the Bundeschampionat.

In the last years of his life he worked as a sire at the Birkhof stud in Donzdorf in Baden-Württemberg .

He was put to sleep on February 9th, 2009, because he suffered more and more from the sports injury he had suffered in 1999.

Chambertin left more than 100 registered broodmares and ten licensed sons, including Chacco-Blue , Chalan and Codec , and with 146 points is one of the top sires worldwide.

It is approved for Hanover, Oldenburg, OS, Holstein, Rhineland / Palatinate-Saar, Bavaria, Hesse, Baden-Württemberg, Thuringia, Saxony, Italy and Switzerland.
