Ma'abat ( Maabat ) is an East Timorese place, Suco and Aldeia in the administrative office of Manatuto ( municipality of Manatuto ).

The place Ma'abat is located in the northeast of the Sucos, at an altitude of 29  m . It is part of the city of Manatuto .

750 inhabitants live in the Suco (2015), of which 379 are men and 371 women. The population density is 25.5 inhabitants / km². There are 117 households in the Suco. Over 76% of the population state that Galoli is their mother tongue. Over 18% speak Tetum Prasa , minorities Habun , Tetum Terik , Makasae , Mambai , Idaté or Kairui .

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Ma'abat had an area of ​​31.68 km². Now it is 29.47 km². The Suco is located on the north coast of Manatuto, on the Baía de Lanessana . To the west is the Suco Sau and south of the Suco Aiteas . In the east, Ma'abat borders the administrative office of Laleia with its Suco Lifau . Several small rivers flow north in the Suco during the rainy season and form the Lagoa Lamessana shortly before the confluence with the Strait of Wetar . The Dolacuain River forms the border with Laleia .

The overland road from Dili to Baucau runs along the coast in the north of the Sucos . It is one of the most important transport links in the country. The eastern part of the city of Manatuto extends in the northwest from the Sucos Aiteas and Sau into Ma'abat. The city consists of several places. In the Ma'abat area are Ma'abat , Soraha , Aitehen and Berato , as well as the Santo António de Manatuto hill . The village of Umasau is further east . The place Dadean Huhun is located near the coast halfway between Manatuto and Lagoa Lamessana.

The two Aldeias Ma'abat and Soraha are located in the Suco .

politics

In the elections of 2004/2005 was João da Silva elected Chefe de Suco and in 2009 re-elected.

Since January 2011 in Ma'abat produces Belak Salt Company in a factory saline .
