Lifau is an East Timorese place and Suco in the administrative office of Laleia ( Manatuto municipality ).

847 inhabitants live in Lifau (2015), of which 433 are men and 414 women. The population density is 17.1 inhabitants / km². There are 160 households in the Suco. Almost 94% of the population list Galoli as their mother tongue. Almost 4% speak Tetum Prasa , minorities Makasae and Habun .

Before the 2015 regional reform, Lifau had an area of ​​57.13 km². Now there are 49.63 km². The Suco is located in the north of the administrative office of Laleia. To the south is the Suco Haturalan . To the west is the administrative office of Manatuto with its Sucos Ma'abat and Aiteas , to the east the administrative office of Vemasse , which belongs to the municipality of Baucau, with the Suco Vemasse . To the north is the Strait of Wetar . The Laleia River flows through the east of Sucos . The Heuc , a tributary of the Laleias, follows part of the southern border. The Dolacuain flows along the western border . The northern coastal road, one of the country's most important traffic routes, runs right through the Suco.

In the southeast of the Lifau Laleia River is north of Heuc and west on both sides of the border to Haturalan the settlement center Laleia , the capital of the Office of Administration. On the Lifau side are the villages Lifau , Lenao and Uma-Rentau ( Uma Rentau ) , which are part of the settlement center . Laleia Church is also located here . To the north of it lies the town of Kampung Baru on the coast .

In the Suco are the three Aldeias Lenao , Uma-Clalan and Uma-Rentau .

At the end of 1979 there was an Indonesian camp for East Timorese in Lifau , who should be relocated by the occupiers for better control.

In the 2004/2005 elections , Luis Guterres da Costa was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections won Ciriaco da Costa .
