Chaquí Baños is a town in the Potosí department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Chaquí Baños is the second largest town in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Chaquí in the province of Cornelio Saavedra and is located at an altitude of 3690 m on the eastern edge of the Pampa Chaquí plain. The village is located on the Río Chipuruni , which flows into the Río Chaquí Mayu , whose water flows further over the Río Puna , the Rio Miculpaya and the Río Mataca to the Río Pilcomayo .

Chaquí Baños is located between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east. The climate of the region is semi-arid and a typical time of day climate , in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day are greater than during the year.

Transport network
Chaquí Baños is located 41 kilometers by road east of Potosí , the capital of the department.
From Potosí, the national highway Ruta 5 leads northeast via Betanzos to Sucre and on towards Santa Cruz in the Bolivian lowlands. Halfway between Potosí and Betanzos, a country road branches off in a southerly direction, after ten kilometers it reaches the village of Chaquí and then continues to Chaquí Baños, another five kilometers away, with its hot thermal springs . The road connection from Ruta 5 to Chaquí Baños is currently (as of 2009) under construction.

Due to the historically grown population distribution, the region has a significant proportion of Quechua population, in the municipality of Chaquí 81 percent of the population speak the Quechua language.
