Charity Opara (born May 20, 1972 in Owerri ) is a former Nigerian sprinter who mainly competed in the 400-meter run .
On her special route, she was second at the 1990 World Junior Athletics Championships in Plovdiv , at the African Championships in Cairo in the same year and at the 1991 African Games, which also took place in Cairo. With the Nigerian 4 x 400 meter relay she was African champion in 1989 and 1990 and won the African Games in 1991. In addition, she won the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games 1990 in Auckland with the 4 x 100 meter relay .
She celebrated the greatest success of her career with the Nigerian 4-by-400-meter relay at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , after she had just served a four-year doping ban . Together with Olabisi Afolabi , Fatima Yusuf and Falilat Ogunkoya , she won the silver medal behind the quartet of the United States and ahead of the German relay team in 3: 21.04 minutes .
Charity Opara was 1.70 m tall and weighed 60 kg.
