from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Charlotte Brummerhoff (born April 17, 1905 in Dortmund , † January 7, 1986 in Berlin ) was a German actress and cabaret artist .

Life

After the Second World War , Charlotte Brummerhoff was involved in several cabaret start-ups around the Berlin Friedrichstrasse train station in the Soviet-occupied sector of Berlin . For example at the cabaret Frischer Wind , which was housed in the rooms of the Ballhaus Alt-Bayern at Friedrichstrasse 94, or at the cabaret Hajo by restaurateur Hans Joachim Keller in Albrechtstrasse . These two were not very durable, in contrast to the Distel cabaret theater in the house of the Admiralspalast in Friedrichstrasse, which still exists today.

Afterwards she devoted herself more to the theater and worked under such well-known directors as Walter Felsenstein in the Komische Oper Berlin and Benno Besson and Erich Engel in the Berliner Ensemble . She was also offered various roles at DEFA and Deutsche Fernsehfunk . Since she lived in West Berlin , Charlotte Brummerhoff was no longer willing to work in East Berlin after the construction of the Wall and then worked under Peter Stein at the Schaubühne on Halleschen Ufer .
