Chengdu-Kunming Railway
The Chengdu-Kunming Railway ( Chinese 成昆 铁路 , Pinyin Cheng-Kun tielu , English Chengdu-Kunming Railway ) is a railway line that connects Chengdu and Kunming , the two capitals of southwest China's Sichuan and Yunnan provinces . It is one of the most important transportation links in southwest China .
Their total length is approx. 1100 km. It was built between 1958 and 1970. The route runs through the area of the Hengduan Shan Mountains . The railway crosses the major rivers Min Jiang , Qingyi Jiang , Dadu He and Jinsha Jiang (Chang Jiang).
Important stops on their route are Chengdu, Pengshan , Jiajiang , Emei , Ebian , Ganluo , Xide , Xichang , Dechang , Miyi and Panzhihua in Sichuan Province and Yuanmou , Lufeng , Anning and Kunming in Yunnan Province .
In the north there are the connections:
- Bao Cheng Railway宝 成 铁路 ( Baoji - Chengdu )
- Cheng Yu Railway成渝 铁路 ( Chengdu - Chongqing )
In the south there are the connections:
- Gui-Kun Railway贵 昆 铁路 ( Guiyang - Kunming )
- Kun-He-Bahn昆 河 铁路 ( Kunming - Hekou )
Parallel to the existing line, a more than 900 km long high-speed line is being built, which is scheduled to open around 2020. It is the last section of the 3375 km long Beijing- Kunming high-speed corridor to be completed. The travel time will be reduced to approximately six hours.
