Chet Baker Sings is a studio album by American jazz trumpeter Chet Baker . The album features jazz standards sung by Baker and was first released in 1954 by Pacific Jazz Records . A new edition followed in 1956.
background
The album was in 1954, first in single format as a 10 " and a double 7" releases. In 1956 it came on the market as a long-playing record with six other tracks, which were recorded in July 1956 in the Forum Theater. In 1988 Chet Baker Sings was first released on compact disc .
The album contains a sung recording of My Funny Valentine , with an earlier version from 1952 Chet Baker already celebrated a success as a trumpeter with the quartet of Gerry Mulligan .
The photograph on the album cover , which shows Baker singing in the recording studio, was made by William Claxton . The LP version from 1956 received a revised, multi-colored cover.
