Chi Rong ( Chinese 遲 蓉 , Pinyin Chí Róng , born July 26, 1976 in Sichuan ) is a Chinese volleyball and beach volleyball player .
Career Beach
Chi Rong played her first international tournaments in 1997 with Xiong Zi . In 1998, the duo came in 17th place four times in open tournaments. Xiong Zi and Chi Rong achieved the same result at the 1999 World Championships in Marseille . In the same year they came seventh at the Dalian Open for the first time in the top ten. In 2000 they finished 13th at the Grand Slam in Chicago and seventh at the Berlin Open. In Dalian, they came in third.
They then took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney . After an opening defeat against the Portuguese Maria José / Cristina Pereira, they first won in the losing round against the Mexican duo Galindo / Gaxiola , before they lost to the Italians Gattelli / Perrotta . Nevertheless, they came as the best loser in the last sixteen, in which they had no chance against the later Olympic champions Cook / Pottharst .
In 2001 the two Chinese women established themselves in the top ten of the World Tour. They reached seventh places at the Gran Canaria Open and the Grand Slam in Marseille and fourth place in Maoming . At the 2001 World Cup in Klagenfurt , they came as group winners in the first main round, which they won against the Austrians Swoboda / Mellitzer . In the second round they defeated the US duo Walsh / May before they were stopped in the quarter-finals by the Brazilians Sandra Pires / Minello and finished the tournament in fifth place.
Career hall
In 2004 Chi Rong was signed by the German Bundesliga club Rote Raben Vilsbiburg . Here the attacker was German runner-up in 2005 and 2006 .
