biography

Chiara Mair comes from Götzens and starts for the local ski club. After she had competed in junior races like the Trofeo Topolino with young athletes like the future World Cup and Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin , a time marked by injuries began for Mair. Within a few years she tore three cruciate ligaments , twice in her right knee and once in her left knee. Nevertheless, she was included in the youth team of the ÖSV. She celebrated her comeback at the Australian New Zealand Cup (ANC) in summer 2014. In January 2015 she made her debut in the European Cup , where she was able to establish herself with several podium places over the years. At the beginning of the next season, one day before her 19th birthday, she surprisingly won an international ANC giant slalom.

In January 2016, she made her World Cup debut in the giant slalom in Flachau and failed several times over the next two winters to qualify for second rounds. At her only Junior World Championship in Åre , she won bronze in both giant slalom and slalom. In February 2018, she suffered cartilage damage in her right knee and had to end the season early. With space 23 in the parallel slalom of St. Moritz , she won her first World Cup points in December 2018th After two placements in the top 15, she was included in the squad for the World Cup in Åre, but was not used there.

In January 2020 she finished eighth in the Flachau night slalom for the first time among the top ten in a World Cup race.
