The Chiemseeplätte is a sailboat made of wood , consisting of the work boat of Chiemseefischer , a rowing boat with a flat bottom is formed.

The term 10sqm unitary sheet sailboard appeared for the first time in a plan of the water sports club Fraueninsel and the Chiemsee Yacht Club from 1932 and was also used in the construction plan from 1954. The class regulation published in 2018 also uses the term as a title.

Class rules and sailing marks

The class regulations of the Chiemsee sailing area are determined by the 10m² standard sailing area class association.

The sail symbol shows two crossed linden leaves , which both the Fraueninsel water sports club and the Chiemsee Yacht Club have in their club emblem.

Regatta and races

On the Chiemsee several races are organized by local sailing clubs during the year and the Chiemsee-Platten champions are determined. In the coming season, he may have a green diamond in his sail on each side of the sail.

Chiemseeplätze sail very successfully in Venice in the Regata Coppa del Presidente della Republicca.

At the Staffelsee , the sailing club Staffelsee e. V. (SCSTS) once a year a flat triathlon (weekend with three races).

Flattening on the Chiemsee

The basis was the plateau, the fishing boat

The 10 m² standard sailing area was created from the fishermen's workboat.
Descriptions characterize the Chiemsee plateau as:

  • Flat-bottomed boat with a narrow bow
  • The bottom is raised at the bow and tapering flat towards the stern
  • the side walls are slightly sloping and low
  • the transom is slightly retracted

Some Chiemsee painters have depicted plates in their work.

At the beginning of the 21st century, most boats are welded from aluminum, only a few wooden ones can be found. The drive is outboard usual. Straps are usually carried along.

Varia

In the novel Weitlings Sommerfrische , published in 2012, Sten Nadolny describes how the pensioner W. Weitling gets into a storm on the Chiemsee with his Chiemseeplatte and capsizes.
