China Open 2014 (Squash)

The China Open 2014 - Squash Stars on the Bund took place from September 4th to 7th, 2014 in Shanghai , People's Republic of China . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2014/15 and belonged to the PSA International 70 rating category . The women's tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2014/15 and belonged to the Gold 50 category .

The defending champions were Aaron Frankcomb in the men's race, last held in 2010, and Nicol David , who won the title last year. Both did not run again. James Willstrop won the men's competition with a final victory over Peter Barker with 11: 7, 11: 7, 9:11, 10:12 and 11: 5. In the women's final, Low Wee Wern won against Camille Serme with 11: 8, 11: 6, 8:11, 8:11 and 12:10. For Willstrop it was the first title win at the tournament, for Wee Wern it was the third after 2011 and 2012.

The participant fields consisted of 16 players each, four of which were reserved for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded. Per Wildcard received Wang Junjie in the men's and Gu Jinyue a spot in the main draw for the ladies.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize pool was $ 88,000 for the men and $ 58,000 for the women.
