history

Gumtow (later with the Gumtow colony (now in Polish: Chomętówko)) was first mentioned in 1337 in the Neumark Land Book . At that time it belonged to the Land Schivelbein and was owned by Johannes de Elbe with twenty hooves. In 1540 the place with the princely office of Schivelbein becomes the property of the Order of St. John .

In 1698 a dispute between the Schivelbeiner and Gumtower citizens about the border timber is reported. When in 1736 Gumtow was subjected to the pressure of the castle mill in Schivelbein , the place had a Schulzen, seven farmers and a Kossaten. In 1884 Gumtow had seven farmers and ten owners. It was considered a rich farming village, in which a farmer had given his daughter an impressive 30,000 marks as a dowry in 1886.

While Gumtow had 83 inhabitants in 1883, in 1939 there were at least 153 people living in 38 households here. On the 551.3 hectare parish area, agriculture and cattle breeding were preferred. The village benefited from its proximity to the town of Schivelbein, where there were enough opportunities to sell their own products and meet their own needs.

Until 1945 Gumtow belonged to Klützkow (now Polish: Kluczkowo), Langenhaken , Repzin (Rzepczyno) and Wartenstein (Pzyrzecze) to the district and registry office district Langenhaken in the district court area Schivelbein. Until 1932 the place was in the district of Schivelbein, until it was opened in the district of Belgard (Persante) .

At the beginning of March, Gumtow was occupied by Soviet troops . The German population was expelled when the place came into Polish hands. Today Chomętowo and Chomętówko belong to the Gmina Brzeżno in the Powiat Świdwiński .

church

Gumtow did not have its own church. The village belonged to the parish Klützkow (today Polish: Kluczkowo), which since 1933 with the parishes Reinfeld (Bierzwnica) and Dohna field the (Donatowo) parish formed Reinfeld. It belonged to the church district Schivelbein in the church province of Pomerania of the Protestant church of the Old Prussian Union .

Today Chomętowo belongs to the parish Koszalin ( Köslin ) in the diocese of Pomerania-Greater Poland of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .
