Chris Corbould

Christopher "Chris" Corbould (* 1958 ) is a British special effects artist .

Life

Corbould first worked in 1975 while still at school on Tommy , the film adaptation of the rock opera by The Who , directed by his uncle, director Colin Chilvers . He left school soon after and began an apprenticeship at a special effects company in Pinewood. The first few years he was not mentioned in the credits, including films such as The Eagle Has Landed , Superman II - Alone Against All and Superman III - The Steel Lightning . Since Moonraker - Top Secret 1979 he worked on all James Bond films; however, he was first mentioned in 1987 by name in the credits of James Bond 007 - The Living Daylights . Over the years he rose from special effects assistant to special effects director for the Bond films.

Corbould has been nominated several times for the British Academy Film Award since 1996 , but received the award for the first time in 2011 for Inception , for which he was also awarded an Oscar . He has received honorary doctorates from Southampton Solent University and the University of Hertfordshire .
