Christa Frieda Vogel's work consists largely of documentary photographs : In the series and the illustrated book Georgia. Encounters with origin and time , she portrays the inhabitants of the Black Sea Republic in the form of monuments. In the design of the picture, both color and black and white are dominated by the long shot and the central figure . The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung found:

“But perhaps this book is a journalistic event precisely because of that, as Christa Frieda Vogel's wonderfully gentle and yet relentlessly sober photographs capture the being and existence of Georgia [...] life and landscape stories that today seem like memories long ago but challenge to special sympathy. "

For her exhibition and book project Artistanbul , she portrayed 34 visual artists from three generations in Istanbul and accompanied them to their favorite places. During these two years of work, she found similarities between the art scenes in Berlin and Istanbul and initiated the gallery project Galata House of Art in Beyoğlu , which brings together artists from both metropolises. There Christa Frieda Vogel presented her Artistanbul photo series for the first time in 2011, together with works by the artists she portrayed, including Ara Güler , Burhan Doğançay , Mahmut Celayir , Erdoğan Zumrutoğlu and Hande Varsat.

In Vogel's works that are not primarily documentary , such as in the Polaroid series Erotica , she uses proximity and blurring in accordance with the objects. In this way she addresses the (under) water world in general in the Blue Wonder series , while the body structure of the jellyfish is revealed as a pictorial element in the Jellyfish series, which is photographed in black and white .
