Christian Albrecht Niemann

Christian Albrecht Niemann (born May 17, 1680 in Schleswig ; † May 13, 1734 in Lübeck ) was a lawyer and mayor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Niemann was the son of General Superintendent Sebastian Niemann in Schleswig. He was raised in the house of the mayor of Lübeck, Bernhard Frese , and studied law from 1697 to 1700 at the universities of Jena and Halle . After the first practical work at the Royal Danish firm for Schleswig-Holstein in Gluckstadt he was in 1704 at the University of Utrecht with a thesis Episkopalrecht in the Lutheran areas of the empire Dr. jur. PhD. During his subsequent trip, he stayed in England for seven months . He then worked for six months at the Imperial Court of Justice in Wetzlar . In 1708 he became syndic of the Lübeck cathedral chapter . In 1722 he was elected councilor in Lübeck and in 1731 he was appointed mayor of the city. He was also head of the Petrikirche . The rector of the Katharineum in Lübeck, Johann Henrich von Seelen , wrote his funeral sermon .
