Christian Bernzen

Christian Bernzen (born August 19, 1962 in Neuss ) is a German lawyer .

Life

Bernzen was involved in the Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) from 1983 to 1992 and was most recently its deputy federal chairman. From 1984 to 1990 he studied law at the University of Hamburg . In 1993 he was in Hamburg with a thesis on the legal status of the free youth welfare in the new Child and Youth Welfare Law at Werner Thieme to Dr. iur. PhD. 2017 he became a educational science work "right to education. Education Scientific reflections to a legal claim" in Benedict Sturzenhecker at the University of Hamburg Dr. phil. PhD.

Since 1994 he has been a partner at the law firm Bernzen Sonntag Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater (with the right to submit a name). He is admitted to the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court (1999) and was a member of the Hamburg Lawyers' Court until 2012 (2004).

In 2005 he was appointed professor for legal issues in social work at the Catholic University of Social Sciences in Berlin . He was visiting professor for child and youth welfare law at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in Northern Germany as well as a lecturer at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences for social pedagogy at the Rauhen Haus Diakonenanstalt in Hamburg.

Since 1989 he has been a member of the Legal and Youth Welfare Committee of the Working Group for Child and Youth Welfare . Until December 2012 he was chairman of the internal control committee of the Haasenburg company . He has been a member of the supervisory board of St. Raphael Caritas Alten- und Behindertenhilfe GmbH in Mayen since 2009 and a member of the legal entity for the 34th German Evangelical Church Congress in 2013 since 2010 . Since 2012 he has been a member and deputy chairman of the Supervisory Board of Pflegen & Wohnen Hamburg .

Since 2007 he has been treasurer of the SPD state organization in Hamburg.

criticism

In connection with the allegations and investigations into cases of abuse in the homes of the Haasenburg company , Bernzen came under fire in the summer of 2013 because, on the one hand, his law firm and he himself represent the interests of the home operator company Haasenburg GmbH, and, on the other hand, he is the chairman of the home's control committee Residents had to represent against the home. According to media reports, in at least one case there was an immediate personal conflict of interest for Bernzen.
