Christian Erdmann Kindten
Christian Erdmann Kindten (born June 26, 1752 in Schlemmin ; † November 14, 1803 in Stralsund ) was a German organ builder .
Life
Christian Kindten was trained as a carpenter in Stralsund. He later went to Copenhagen , where he took drawing lessons in a Sunday school. In Saint Petersburg , where he stayed for five years, he learned to build organs and string instruments . Maybe there were the Swedish organ builder Olof Schwan or from Halle an der Saale originating Heinrich Andreas Contius his teachers.
Then he returned to Swedish Pomerania . He repaired organs that are no longer in existence in Nehringen , Richtenberg and Bergen on Rügen . His main works are the organ in the Sankt-Jacobs-Kirche in Gingst from 1790, as well as, after he settled in Stralsund in 1790, the organ of the St.-Michaels-Kirche in Sagard , built in 1796 .
The planned construction of an organ for the St. Thomas Church in Tribsees could no longer be carried out due to Kindten's illness and death.
