Christian from Bibra

Christian Ernst Heinrich Freiherr von Bibra (born September 6, 1772 in Oberlind near Sonneberg in Thuringia ; † November 4, 1844 in Romrod in Upper Hesse ) was a land hunter , real privy councilor and was awarded the Grand Cross by the Hessian order Philip the Magnanimous in 1841 for his services .

origin

Christian Freiherr von Bibra comes from the Thuringian-Franconian noble family of the von Bibra . He was a son of the ducal Saxon-Meiningen chief hunter Eugen Georg August von Bibra. His brother was the Meiningen Landtag Marshal Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Gottlob von Bibra .

He was married to Luise Charlotte Henriette Freiin von Riedesel (1781–1855), from this marriage two sons ( August von Bibra (1808–1894) and Bertold von Bibra (1804–1894)) and two daughters. He was of the Protestant faith.

Merits in forestry

He made a career in forestry: He joined in 1791 as a hunting squire in landgräflich Hessian services. In 1801 he became head forester in Romrod and in 1824 was awarded the title of master hunter as an auditor . His merit lies in the introduction and afforestation with softwood stocks in the Upper Hesse region. He was buried in Romrod.

politics

In the 3rd, 4th, 6th, 9th, 15th and 16th electoral periods (1826-1830 and 1834) he was a member of the second chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . In the estates he represented the manorial nobility. He took liberal positions.
