Christian Ludwig Neuffer

Christian Ludwig Neuffer (born January 26, 1769 in Stuttgart , † July 29, 1839 in Ulm ) was a German poet and theologian .

After graduating from high school in Stuttgart , Neuffer studied Protestant theology at the Tübingen monastery from 1786 to 1791 . During this time he became friends with Friedrich Hölderlin and Rudolf Friedrich Heinrich Magenau . After completing his studies, Neuffer was initially a vicar in Stuttgart, then a deacon in Weilheim an der Teck and from 1808 to 1819 pastor in Zell unter Aichelberg . From 1819 Neuffer was pastor at Ulm Minster and school inspector in Ulm.

Neuffer also transferred the verse epic Aeneid by the Roman poet Virgil from Latin .

Like many Swabian poets of his time, his works are influenced by Friedrich Schiller's late work .
