Christian Meyer (born January 27, 1963 in Milan ) is a Swiss jazz and fusion musician ( drums ).

Live and act

Meyer was born in Milan as the son of a Swiss from Zurich and an Italian from Milan. He spent most of his childhood in Italy before moving to Switzerland after the third year of school and attending the Montana Institute on the Zugerberg . At the age of 18 Meyer decided for Swiss nationality and thus avoided Italian military service. Meyer spent the year saved in this way in Frankfurt , where he worked as a musician. He then began studying at the Luigi Bocconi University of Economics , but dropped out after three years in order to devote himself entirely to music.

Since 1991 he has been a member of the successful rock group Elio e le Storie Tese , which won the MTV Europe Music Award for best Italian group in 1999. He also worked with musicians such as Franco Ambrosetti , Dino Betti van der Noot , Paolo Damiani / Gianluigi Trovesi Emotion Orchestra , Antonio Farao, Paolo Fresu , Tiziana Ghiglioni , Gerry Mulligan , Martial Solal , Maria Pia De Vito , Enrico Rava , Billy Cobham and Bob Mintzer . He performed at numerous Italian jazz festivals, but also in Los Angeles and at Spanish festivals.

Meyer was involved in numerous pop productions and has recorded jazz-oriented albums with Hilaria Kramer , Attilio Zanchi , Mauro Negri and the Trio Bobo . In 2001 he was voted the best drummer in Italy in an Italian internet pool.
