Christian Toberentz (born August 17, 1955 in Bremen ) is a German actor , voice actor , singer and dance teacher .

Career

Toberentz completed his training as an actor, dancer and singer with Margot Stein in Berlin . He began with engagements in Berlin, such as Beckmann in Outside in front of the door , followed by other occupations for various roles at several Berlin theaters, including the Hansa-Theater , the Vaganten stage , the Berlin Globe Theater and went on several tours.

He appeared in musical productions at the Deutsches Theater for the Berliner Kammerspiele . For almost a whole year he played and sang his Milljöh for the Berliner Lieder-Revue Zille on the stages of the Nikolaiviertel . In addition, he often worked under the direction of Thomas Engel , Günter Gräwert and Ottokar Runze .

Toberentz dubbed a number of roles in films and series, and he is best known as the German voice of Tim Russ as Tuvok in Star Trek: Raumschiff Voyager . Toberentz also dubbed Russ in other series, including CSI: Miami , Navy CIS or Samantha Who? . Toberentz withdrew from the dubbing industry around 2009 in order to completely shift his focus as a dance teacher in the Ballett Centrum & Berliner Musicalschule , which he has been running and owner since 1994. In 2019 he made a comeback as the voice of Dr. Sherman , played by Tim Russ, in The Orville .

Due to his extensive training as a tap dancer, including in New York, Toberentz was familiar with many different styles; from revue to film choreographies, including by Gene Kelly , to black rhythm tap .

For over thirty years, Toberentz has been teaching regularly in several Berlin studios and giving workshops in Berlin and Palma de Mallorca. He also has many years of experience as a step choreographer for stage and film. Together with Sabine Schöttle he forms the tap duo Gnadenlose Fuß , which not only performs with shows, but also with small stories told with tap dancing, at countless galas, in shows and at street parties.
