From 1992 to 1997 a second degree in religious education followed in Naumburg (Saale) and Halle (Saale) . Simon teaches mathematics, art education and religion at the Goethe Gymnasium in Weißenfels .

In the 1990s, Simon founded and organized a discussion group in Weißenfels which, under her leadership, has developed into a permanent interdisciplinary art and cultural project on fire renovation in the new millennium and has been working on the basis of a non-profit association since 2009 . The fire refurbishment, in which there are also exhibition rooms in addition to Simon's own studio , links different forms of expression of the visual and performing arts , contemporary literature with science and cultural politics . Changing exhibitions either present the work of professional visual artists or school classes from several educational institutions in Weißenfels. Readings, musical performances, scientific lectures and discussions complement the exhibitions. The association wants to present contemporary art on the basis of national and European relations in order to establish the cultural life of the region in southern Saxony-Anhalt beyond its borders. Workshop discussions, teacher training and student projects are intended to promote local art education work.
