Christine Ursula Clauß (born February 10, 1950 in Scheibenberg ) is a German politician ( CDU ). Between 2005 and 2019 she was again a member of the Saxon State Parliament , to which she was a member from 1999 to 2004. From 2008 to 2014 she was Saxon State Minister for Social Affairs (from 2009 Social Affairs and Consumer Protection).

Life

After graduating from the Polytechnic High School at the “Bethanien” nursing school in Leipzig, Clauß completed training as a nurse from 1966 to 1969 . In 1973/1974 she did a further training as a specialist nurse for anesthesia and intensive therapy at the District Academy of Health and Social Services in Leipzig . From 1970 to 1994 she worked in the municipal women's clinic in Leipzig, 20 years of which as the senior nurse of the intensive care unit. Since 1983 she has been a lecturer at the clinic. From 1994 to 1999 she was employed as a specialist advisor at AOK Leipzig.

It belongs to the international federation of independent organizations for youth, social and educational work. V. and the Leipzig Association as a member.

Clauß is married and has a son and two grandchildren. She is Evangelical Lutheran .

Political party

Christine Clauß was a member of the GDR CDU from 1984 to 1990 and of the CDU since 1990. From 1999 to 2003 she was deputy chairwoman of the CDU district association Leipzig-Stadt, in 2003 she took over the office of chairman. At the district party conference of the Leipzig CDU on October 6, 2007, Clauß no longer stood, but proposed Hermann Winkler as his successor, who was elected with a dream result and who led the Leipzig CDU as district chairman until 2011. From 2003 to 2009 she was deputy state chairwoman of the Saxon Union . In addition, since 2000 she has been chairman of the state committee “ Demographic Change - Family and Social Affairs” and, as a representative for the state of Saxony, a member of the radio council and the program committee of Deutschlandradio .

From 1990 to 2000 she was a city ​​councilor in Leipzig. From 1992 to 1999 she was chairman of the specialist committee for health and social affairs in the city council. In the elections to the Saxon state parliament in 1999, she won a direct mandate in constituency 30 (Leipzig-Mitte, Neustadt-Neuschönefeld, Reudnitz-Thonberg), which she held until 2004. In 2005 she moved back to the state parliament as a replacement for the resigned Wolfram Köhler . In 2009 Clauß won the direct mandate again and represented the constituency of Leipzig 4 .

In the state parliament, Clauss was a member of the petitions committee and the committee for rules of procedure and immunity matters until he switched to the state government .

Minister

On August 8, 2008, Clauss took over the office of the Saxon State Minister for Social Affairs in the Tillich I cabinet as the successor to Helma Orosz , who was elected mayor of Dresden, and was sworn in on September 10, 2008. When the government was formed after the state elections in 2009 ( Cabinet Tillich II ), she was confirmed in office and was Minister of State for Social Affairs and Consumer Protection until November 2014.
