Christoph Peter (also Petraeus ; * 1626 in Weida ; † December 4, 1669 in Guben ) was a teacher and cantor in Guben.
Life
Peter first worked as a teacher and cantor in Großenhain and in 1650 became cantor and teacher in Guben. In 1656 he received citizenship .
Works
Peter published the devotional cymbals in 1655 . The melody for the song Ach Gott und Herr ( EG 233), composed by Martin Rutilius, can be found for the first time in this hymnal . A number of songs by the mayor of Guben, Johann Franck, are set by him in this work or in Geistliches Sion (1672). Later, however, other melodies prevailed for Franck's songs.
