Christoph von Owstin

Christoph von Owstin , also Christoffer (* around June 24, 1559 in Quilow ; † November 21, 1629 in Anklam ) was a ducal Pomeranian court official and district administrator .

Life

Christoph von Owstin was the son of Roloff von Owstin († 1591) and Anna von Platen. He studied for two years at the University of Greifswald and then one year at the University of Heidelberg . He then traveled to Padua , Venice and Florence and finally back home via Switzerland and Hamburg . He then came to the court of Duke Ernst Ludwig , who sent him to Braunschweig-Lüneburg in 1584 as his representative . The following year he was part of the retinue of Duchess Sophie Hedwig on her trip to Braunschweig . 1606 he was by Bogislaw XIII. appointed district administrator.

Christoph von Owstin was called in to visit the University of Greifswald and the Princely Pedagogy in Stettin . Duke Philipp Julius granted him patronage over the Quilow Church in 1609 .

He was buried in Anklam in 1629. In 1632 his body was transferred to the Groß Bünzow church and reburied there.

Christoph von Owstin's first marriage was Dorothea († October 26, 1599), the daughter of Valentin von Eickstedt . He later married Margaretha, daughter of Land Marshal Degener von Buggenhagen . He had a daughter with her.
