Christoph von Rappe (born November 25, 1566 , † August 2, 1619 in Kaymen ) was the ducal Prussian chancellor .

Life

origin

Christoph was a member of the von Rappe noble family from Courland . His parents were the heir to Satticken, Telsen and Roloff in the Grobin district , Ernst von Rappe († before 1582) and Catharina von Büldring.

Career

Rappe studied law at the universities of Jena , Wittenberg , Ingolstadt and Leipzig . He was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD . In 1594 he joined the Prussian administrative service as court judge. In 1597 he was promoted to chamber councilor and in 1604 to chancellor .

Although he was considered an advocate of corporate politics , which was directed against an overpowering sovereign, he enjoyed the trust of Elector Johann Sigismund .

In 1598, Rappe inherited the paternal estates Telsen and Roloff. Since 1604 he was the Arrendator piltenschen Stitfsgüter and was in 1609 and their pledge master. From 1611 he owned Aistern instead and was a pawnbroker on Rutzau and Niederbartau , all of which were located in the Gobin district. During this time, he also took over the Prussian goods Angerapp in the Darkehmen district , as well as Wesselhöfen and Bledau in the Königsberg district .

The authorship is partly unclear, as Philipp Andreas Oldenburger also wrote under the pseudonym Pacificus a Lapide .

family

Black married in 1595 with Magdalena Dorothea von Kreutzen (1575-1619). With her he founded the East Prussian line († 1744) of his family († 1752). The marriage resulted in 11 children.
