Black horse (Prussian noble family)
Black , also Rapp or black horses , is the name of a Prussian - Courland extinct noble family .
Contrary to older postulations, there is no proven tribal affinity to the originally Thuringian, but later also wealthy in Prussia, noble family Rappen, which has the same name but has different coats of arms, or the Swedish noble family Rappe, who also come from Courland and which was introduced into the nobility class of the Swedish knighthood in 1697 (No. 1284).
history
The family came to the Baltic States as part of the Teutonic Order . The secured trunk line begins with Heinrich Rappe, who was mentioned in a document in 1543 . Order Master Wolter von Plettenberg belehnte 1528 in turning the former son Eustace (Statius) Rape and his heirs with [Sattikken and] Johann Krusen s land and goods [Telsen and Roloff] in the area and the parish Grobin to Lehngutsrecht . Statius Rap (p) e was the father of Ernst Rappe , on Sattikken, Roloff and Tels and grandfather of the Prussian Chancellor Christoph Rappe (1566–1619), the founder of the Prussian line of the family, as well as the grandfather of Otto Rappe († 1634) , Hereditary lord on Salticken, who was enrolled in the 1st class of the Courland Knighthood for the entire family in 1620 . Christoph von Rappe († 1716) received the Prussian nobility recognition in Königsberg in 1698 . The East Prussian line died out in 1744, the male line of the entire line with the Courland line in 1752 .

coat of arms
The coat of arms shows three black flat rafters in silver . On the helmet with black and silver covers, a black rafter between an open silver flight .
Alternatively, Źernicki-Szeliga emblazoned three silver ostrich feathers over a golden crown as a jewel . However, Rosenfeld and Bojnčić assign this coat of arms to a Rappe family flourishing in Galicia , which they, like genernicki-Szeliga before them, identify as co-arms of the Rarogiewicz family .
