Christopher Mayer (* 21 February 1954 as George Charles Mayer III in New York City , New York ; † 23. July 2011 in Sherman Oaks , California ) was an American actor .

Life

Mayer was born as George Charles Mayer III, the eldest of seven children in New York State. He grew up in Ridgewood , New Jersey . He graduated from Colgate University , where he earned a degree in business administration ( business acquired). He then worked in Manhattan in an office job. He also took acting classes in his spare time.

After a few supporting roles in US TV films, he got the lead role of Vance Duke in the fifth season of the US television series A Duke rarely comes alone . He played this role in over twenty episodes in the 1982/1983 season. He had another continuous lead series in 1984/1985 in the US television series Glitter ; he played the reporter Pete Bozak in it .

From 1987 to 1989 Mayer had a continuous series role in the US soap opera California Clan ; in it he embodied the ski instructor and womanizer TJ Daniels . Mayer had initially auditioned for the role of doctor Scott Clark , but was turned down by the producers because they could not imagine Mayer in the role of a doctor.

Mayer played episode roles and guest roles in various US television series, including Love Boat (1983; 1985), Simon and Simon (1984), Renegade - Merciless Hunt (1994; 1996), Xena - Die Kriegerprinzessin (1995), Baywatch - Die Malibu Lifeguards (1998), Pacific Blue Beach Police (1998) and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1999). The film database IMDb has a guest role as his last appearance in the action series Highway to Hell - 18 wheels made of steel (2000).

He also occasionally took on roles in movies . He played, among other things, at the side of Jim Carrey , the role of Kenneth Falk in the comedy The Dummies (1997).

Mayer often appeared under the name Chip Mayer .

Private

Mayer was married three times. In his first marriage (1982-1984) he was married to the actress Teri Copley ; from this marriage comes a daughter. In his second marriage (1985-1986) he married the actress Eileen Davidson . From his third marriage (1988) with the actress Shauna Sullivan two more daughters were born; the marriage was later divorced.
