Simon & Simon is an American television series produced by the American television company CBS between 1981 and 1988 and first broadcast on November 24, 1981. In Germany , the series was first broadcast from 1986 to 1990 in the first . 22 episodes were not shown in Germany.

Developed by Philip DeGuere , the series is about the very different brothers Rick (played by Gerald McRaney ) and AJ Simon (played by Jameson Parker ), who run a detective agency together .
Rick is a street-savvy, rough-hewn Vietnam veteran who likes pickup trucks in general and his red Dodge Power Wagon in particular, and lives in a cabin boat behind AJ's house . He pays less attention to conventions and rules and is more frank with the law.
His younger brother AJ forms the calm and well-read pole of the unequal pair of brothers who approach tasks rationally and who tries to adhere to rules and laws. He dresses conservatively and considers the things Rick loves to be more of the lower class. After driving a black 57 Chevrolet Bel Air Cabriolet in season one , he later has a red Chevrolet Camaro Z28 .
The detective agency they run in San Diego forms the backbone of the series. The series thrives on the contradictions of the brothers, who approach the common cases in different ways based on their attitude and socialization , and who thus repeatedly lead to conflicts. Family relationships, especially with the mother, and similarities that develop or develop over the course of the series have a balancing effect.

Cameos
There were two cross-over episodes:
In the Magnum episode Die Rache des Poisongottes (3x03), the Simon brothers are supposed to steal back an apparently cursed idol from Robin Masters' property for their client and bring it to its place of origin; in the process, they come into conflict with Magnum, Rick and TC. The story was continued in the Simon & Simon episode Die Smaragd-Kieze (2x01), with Magnum and Higgins as guest characters (first broadcast in the USA immediately after the Magnum episode).
There was also an appearance by AJ Simon in an episode of Computer Kids , in which a gang of young detectives, including Simon, were briefly overwhelmed by the criminals and locked in a storage room. And these kids can also be seen in a Simon & Simon episode in supporting roles ( No alibi falls from the sky 3x05), which was first broadcast a day later.
DVD publications
Currently only the first two seasons have been released on DVD. The remaining seasons have only been released in the US so far.
Successor works
The TV movie Simon & Simon: In trouble again , based on the series, first aired on February 23, 1995 and is set a few years after the series. AJ Simon has since married and works as a lawyer in Seattle . When his brother Rick visits him during a stopover that he makes during the delivery of a yacht , it is stolen - with his mother Cecilia Simon on board.
