The parish of Christ King is responsible for the districts of Dalum and Wachendorf . The parish church is located in the center of the village.

history

The church was built in 1931 according to plans by the architect Hans Lühn from Lingen. The consecration on November 11, 1931 was carried out by Bishop Wilhelm Berning . Because of the strong increase in the number of Catholics, the altar area in the south-western part was demolished at the end of 1956 and a transept and a choir were built according to plans by the architect Josef Feldwisch-Dentrup senior. grown from Osnabrück . This extension was consecrated in 1957 by Bishop Helmut Hermann Wittler . The church was extensively renovated in 1987.

Buildings and equipment

The brick basilica church is simple in shape and design. The newer transept and the choir are harmoniously adapted to the older main nave with the low aisles. The roof made of bright red clay tiles is varied. The main nave of the nave, the transept, the choir and the sacristy have gable roofs ; the side aisles and side entrances have monopitch roofs ; the end of the choir has a three-part folding roof . The square tower in the northeast has a strongly tapered copper-covered tip with a large cross and has four tower clocks . Above the crossing , a roof turret with a trumpet angel on the top of the helmet enriches the overall impression of the church, which is surrounded by trees, bushes and lawns.

The main nave is supported by clinker free pillars. In clerestory they continue as flat pilasters. The horizontal white wooden ceiling spans the room. The low aisles, the transept and the choir also have flat ceilings. The natural-colored light pews date from 1987. The font was placed in the middle of the nave in 2006. A lettering on the organ gallery "TE DEUM LAUDAMUS" (You God, we praise) can be easily recognized from the sanctuary.

Altar area

When entering the church, the view leads to the large mosaic hanging cross Christ the King above the altar , which stands in the middle of the altar area, which is raised by three steps. The altar, the lectern (the ambo ) and the base of the tabernacle are made of Anröchter dolomite , a greenish limestone from the Soest Börde . The baptismal font in the nave is also made of this material. There are two side altars in the transept.

Mosaics

Mosaics glisten on the walls above the side altars: the portrait of the Madonna and St. Pope Pius X. The mosaic of the risen Christ with the royal crown in the hanging cross clearly indicates the name of the church.

Statues

Figures of saints are attached to four pillars in the central nave : the Virgin Mary , St. Joseph , St. Aloisius and an angel.

window

In the side aisles there are lead-glazed elongated double windows with pointed arches . On the east side, a large, floor-to-ceiling concrete glass window enlivens the chapel room with its wooden pietà, which is exposed to the outside . The upper aisles in the nave have compact single windows. In the transept there are three vertical ribbon windows on the west and east sides. The end of the choir with eleven vertical bands of stained glass has different shades of blue, which are interrupted by small cross-shaped pieces of red and white glass.
