The City College of New York (also known as City College of The City University of New York , City College , CCNY or City is known) is a state university in New York City in the US state of New York . Founded in 1847 , it is the oldest location of the City University of New York . In the fall of 2008, over 15,000 students were enrolled at City College, the majority of whom have been women for over ten years; the proportion of Master’s students has been between 20 and 30 percent in recent years.
