Civilization Collapse is a song by the German thrash metal band Kreator . It is the second single from their 13th studio album Phantom Antichrist .
Origin and background
The song was written by singer and guitarist Mille Petrozza . The song was recorded with producer Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in the Swedish city of Örebro . A music video was shot for the song . The song is about the unrest that took place in Greece as a result of the financial crisis . Mille Petrozza explained in an interview with the online magazine Powermetal.de that the country “is going to ruin and the people will have to pay for it”.
While researching the song, the band came into contact with Marios Lolos, President of the Greek Union of Journalistic Photographers. During the Greek financial crisis, photographers were often victims of police violence. The band got in touch with Lolos. Lolos immediately agreed to a collaboration and made his photo archive available to the musicians.

The song was released on June 1, 2012 on the album Phantom Antichrist . The single was released on November 9, 2012 via Nuclear Blast . The single was released as a 7 ″ single and as a download . The vinyl single was released on black vinyl. The single is available on red, yellow and white vinyl with a different record cover via the Nuclear Blast online shop.
As the B-side , the single contained the song "Wolfchild", which so far has only been published on the tribute album Dark Symphonies - A Tribute to John Sinclair . According to Petrozza, the song did not fit on the album Phantom Antichrist for dramaturgical reasons . Since Dark Symphonies - A Tribute to John Sinclair was not available worldwide, the musicians decided to use the song Wolfchild as the B-side.

Katharina Beck from the online magazine Metal.de described Civilization Collapse as “as melodic as anthem-like” in the refrain . For Thomas Meyns of the online magazine Metalnews , Civilization Collapse is an “uncompromising Thrash Metal grenade” that shows the band's “enormous talent for effective songwriting”.
