Emergence

Kreator recorded the song in the Hansa Studios in Berlin . The title was co-produced by Andy Sneap and Markus Ganter. It is the band's first release with their new bassist Frédéric Leclerq, who joined the band the year before for Christian “Speesy” Giesler. Kreator singer and guitarist Mille Petrozza described the song as an "appeal to cohesion". In this “increasingly divided world” people have to “stick together and take care of themselves”. A music video was shot for the song, directed by Joern Heitmann .

The band Lamb of God contributed the song Checkmate , which was released on February 6, 2020 and written for the self-titled album to be released on May 8, 2020. It is the band's first release with their new drummer Art Cruz joining the band for Chris Adler . The song was produced by Josh Wilbur and recorded at Studio 606 in Northridge . A music video was also shot for Checkmate . Jan Schwarzkamp from the German magazine Visions interpreted Checkmate as an attack on the President of the United States Donald Trump and his politics.

Kreator and Lamb of God were supposed to play a European tour called State of Unrest with the opening act Power Trip in March and April 2020 . However, this was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

Track list

reception

According to Florian Schneider from the German magazine Visions, Kreators 666 - World Divided would "unite the trademarks of the band's most recent phase". "Thrashy verses stand in contrast to a hymn-like chorus, while the intermediate section sounds as if Ghost Kreator supported the recording." Thomas Sonder from the German magazine Metal Hammer described Kreator's title as "Thrash Metal in a complex and extremely melodious form that produces slogans that will be scratched on school desks or painted walls for generations".
