Sami Yli-Sirniö (born April 10, 1972 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish metal guitarist.

biography

In 1987 Yli-Sirniö joined Brainwash as a guitarist, but left Brainwash two years later when he was 17. Shortly afterwards he was hired as a permanent member of Waltari .

In 1995 Waltari moved to Berlin for a few months . Back in Helsinki, Yli-Sirniö left the band, married the ex-Waltari manager Silke (later manager of HIM ) and lived for a few years in Berlin and Dortmund . As a studio musician, he played for Tiamat , Kyyria and Grip Inc. , made music with In Rags and helped Kreator on a few concert dates and summer festivals in 1999 when their guitarist Tommy Vetterli broke his arm.

On Waltari's Radium Round promotion and European tour, Yli-Sirniö represented Roope Latvala , who had been hired for him, and who left the band the following year for To / Die / For . After the tour, Yli-Sirniö appeared as a guest in Waltari's symphony Evankeliumi and recorded two songs ( Tráveller and Sámi Eatnan ) on the album Channel Nordica - which was created in collaboration with the ethnic band Angelit from Lapland . Among other things, he also helped out with live shows at the Finnish National Opera .

Finally, Yli-Sirniö returned to Helsinki in 2001 and returned to Waltari - although he was also an integral part of Kreator. That year, Violent Revolution was released , the first Kreator disc that Yli-Sirniö had recorded. This was followed by an extensive world tour that did not end until November 2002. In 2003 he played with Kreator at some festivals and in October 2003 on an America turn. In addition to Waltari and Kreator, he played in three other bands ( Jimsonweed , All Human Substitutes and, since 2007, Barren Earth ).

In 2004 he recorded the album Rare Species with Waltari and then went on tour with them. The following year, the Kreator album Enemy of God was released , followed by a world tour from February to November 2005. The Waltari album Blood Sample was created during the tour . Now it went on tour again - this time with Waltari again.

Yli-Sirniö sees the work with his two main bands as largely problem-free and varied. In addition to the 2005 Waltari album Blood Sample and the 2007 Waltari album Release Date , Yli-Sirniö is also welcome as a studio musician in various bands. In the spring of 2007 there was a rock-hard feature entitled “The overlooked guitar hero Sami Yli-Sirniö”.

On the 2017 released debut album Regress To The Saturnine Chapter of Misanthrope Monarch Sami is on the song usurping The Throne represented with a solo.
