Cléverson Gabriel Córdova , known as Cléo ( Serbian - Cyrillic Клеверсон Габријел Кордова Kleverson Gabrijel Kordova , born August 9, 1985 in Guarapuava , Brazil ) is a football player with Brazilian and Serbian nationality. The striker played for Athletico Paranaense , Red Star and FK Partizan Belgrade , among others . At Partizan he was part of the championship teams of 2010 and 2011. In 2011 and 2012 he was champion of China with Guangzhou Evergrande , and in 2012 he was also a cup winner.

Career

Cléo originally played futsal in his hometown for Associação Atlética Batel before starting his professional career with the lower-class Comercial FC in Ribeirão Preto . In 2004 he transferred to the Portuguese third division club CD Olivais e Moscavide in Loures in the greater Lisbon area . However, he had problems obtaining a work permit in Portugal and so played only 13 games for the club in which he scored seven goals.

Red Star loaned Cléo in the 2008/09 season, but did not want to pay the required transfer fee at the end of the season for financial reasons in order to tie the player to the club permanently. Instead, city rival Partizan took the chance and signed him for four years. Despite the fact that Cléo previously played for the Red Star, which last happened 20 years ago with the transfer of Goran Milojevićs , he became the fans' favorite . At Partisan, he contributed 14 goals in 27 games to the 2010 championship. In the successful qualification Partisans for the group stage of the Champions League 2010/11, he scored 8 goals. He contributed to the successful defense of the championship with 8 goals in 14 games.

In Serbia, a naturalization of Cléos was discussed, which would have been eligible to play for the Serbian national team. The Serbian Football Association approved the eligibility to play in the event of naturalization.

In 2011 he moved to China to Guangzhou Evergrande for a transfer fee of 3.2 million euros, a Chinese record at the time , where he became champion that same year. In 2012 he was able to defend the championship title with Guangzhou and also win the cup. In 2013, he became for a season at Kashiwa Reysol loaned to Japan.

At the beginning of 2014, Cléo's contract in China was not renewed. He was without a club for a few months before returning to Athletico Paranaense in May 2014. While he was still a regular there in the 2014 season, he only made eight appearances in the 2015 season . He left the club early 2016 Goiás EC in the Série B . Here he was unable to build on previous successes. Cléo moved to CD Cova da Piedade in the second Portuguese division in mid-2017 . Here he became a regular again and scored eleven goals. In the summer of 2017, Qingdao Huanghai brought him back to China.
