Claudia Keller (also Claudia Klein ; born August 18, 1944 in Schreiberhau, today Szklarska Poręba , Poland ) is a German writer .

Life

Claudia Keller comes from a family of artists: her mother was a dancer, her father an actor and her grandfather a writer. Born in the Lower Silesian district of Hirschberg in the Giant Mountains , she grew up in the Ruhr area . From there, she and her family moved to the Black Forest in the early 1980s . She later moved to Frankfurt am Main .

She made her debut as a novelist in 1977 with Das Ehespiel , back then as Claudia Klein. Her breakthrough came in 1988 with diapers, anger and wild dreams. Letters from a prevented emancipation . For this also the Italian and Japanese translated epistolary novel , she developed the character of Lisbeth , which differ in their listless marriage with her morose husband Benno I , the toddler Benno II around plagues and their teenage daughter and them her friend Paula reported in bitingly ironic letters. In 1990 and 1992, two serial volumes followed with further letters from the "prevented emancipation". Her other particularly successful works include I'll give you my husband! (1995) and Once Heaven and Back (1997). Her novels with a total circulation in the millions have been published by Fischer-Taschenbuch-Verlag , Heyne Verlag and, since the mid-1990s, primarily by Blanvalet . Her last book so far (as of 2012), The Devil on the Wall , was published in 2004.

Since her first successes in the late 1980s, Claudia Keller can be classified as a representative of entertaining women's literature , which mostly deals with various relationship issues and problems in a mostly humorous way. In contrast to similarly successful female authors like Hera Lind , her novels manage without "superwomen", but are also characterized by autobiography. So she left in Schaffe, save, build house. Apprenticeship years of a Reigschmeckten (1988) also incorporate her own experiences after moving from the Ruhr area to the Black Forest. Later reissued under the title Breakfast under the Fliederbusch , it is one of her most successful works.

Three of Keller's novels have so far been adapted as television films for ZDF . When I you gift my husband (1998) and I'll give you my man 2 - after Keller's novel Under ladies - led each Karola Hattop Director. Hannelore Elsner and Rosemarie Fendel play in both films . In the adaptation of once heaven and back (2000) directed by Thomas Jacob August Zirner , Christine Neubauer , Catherine Flemming and Ruth-Maria Kubitschek can be seen in the leading roles.

From 1985 to 1992, Keller was a member of the Association of German Writers (VS).
