Claus Fritzsche

Claus Fritzsche (born 1964 ; died on January 14, 2014 ) was a German blogger and lobbyist in the field of homeopathy .

Life

Fritzsche studied business administration with a scholarship from Karstadt AG and completed his studies with a degree in business administration . He described himself as a medical and science journalist and wrote advertising texts for various companies. He worked as a lobbyist for various pharmaceutical companies that manufactured homeopathic products. As of 2011, he received 43,000 euros annually from the companies Deutsche Homöopathie-Union , Biologische Heilmittel Heel , Staufen Pharma , Wala Heilmittel , Weleda and Hevert-Arzneimittel .

On his own websites he criticized the skeptic movement , the Society for the Scientific Investigation of Parascience and the website EsoWatch (later Psiram ), but distanced himself from individual conspiracy theories about psiram. In connection with his criticism of the skeptics, he was accused of unfair journalistic practices, abuse and threats; at the same time he campaigned for controversial treatment methods such as neural therapy . According to a report in the Süddeutsche Zeitung in 2012, several donors distanced themselves from Fritzsche.

Fritzsche lived in Meerbusch in North Rhine-Westphalia . In January 2014, he committed suicide .

After Fritzsche's suicide, Edzard Ernst , the university professor of alternative medicine he had attacked, published a self-critical article about Fritzsche in which he upheld his original criticism of the matter.
