Markus Grill
Markus Grill (born February 23, 1968 in Aalen ) is a German journalist . He heads the Berlin office of the investigative departments of NDR and WDR .
Life
Grill studied history and German at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin . From 1997 to 1999 he volunteered at the Badische Zeitung , then he was a correspondent in Strasbourg . From 2003 to 2008 he worked as a reporter and investigative journalist for Stern in Hamburg, since 2009 for the news magazine Der Spiegel , including from 2012 to 2014 as a business correspondent in Washington DC (USA). From June 2009 to June 2017 he was a member of the board of the journalists' association Netzwerk Recherche . From June 2015 to August 2017, Grill was editor-in-chief of the Correctiv research center . Since November 1, 2017, he has headed the Berlin office of the investigative departments of NDR and WDR.
In 2005, Grill exposed doctors bribery at the pharmaceutical company Ratiopharm . In 2007 he uncovered the Aspirin cartel at Bayer AG (which brought the company a fine of 10 million euros from the Federal Cartel Office ), in 2008 the Lidl surveillance scandal and in 2009 the medical records of Lidl employees.
