Claus Sieghörtner (born June 22, 1967 in Nuremberg ) is a German basketball trainer , official and former player. As a player, Sieghörtner was among others active for the three Württemberg first division clubs from Ulm , Ludwigsburg and Tübingen . The trained teacher then became active as a sports director and later sports coordinator at the Bundesliga club Tigers Tübingen and, in addition to the junior division of SV 03 Tübingen as a trainer, also headed the regional league department of SV 03 Tübingen.

Career

Sieghörtner came from the second division club in Ansbach in 1988 to SSV Ulm 1846, who had surpassed the main round first Ansbach in the promotion round in the 2nd basketball league in 1987/88 and made it through to the first basketball league . With the Ulm team, he managed to stay up in the next three seasons before he moved to the basketball Bundesliga in 1991/92 to the league competitor in Ludwigsburg . With this team he reached first place in the south main round group that season. Then the team was eliminated in the play-off semi- final series against eventual runner-up Alba Berlin . A year later they defeated the Berliners in the first play-off round of the basketball Bundesliga 1992/93 , but again lost the semi-final series just under five games against the southern first and later runner-up TTL Bamberg . In the international club competition Korać-Cup, the Ludwigsburg were eliminated three times in a row, one round before reaching the group stage. After the Ludwigsburgs missed the play-off finals for the German championship in the following seasons after 1993, Sieghörtner finally moved to the 2nd basketball Bundesliga in 1996/97 for long-time second division club SV 03 in Tübingen. Here, for four years, unsuccessful attempts were made to advance to the top German league before this succeeded under the name WiredMinds Tübingen in the 2nd Bundesliga 2000/01 . When he returned to the top division, however, Sieghörtner had to struggle with Achilles tendon problems , so that he ended his career in December 2001 to concentrate on his teaching profession. After the Tübingen's immediate relegation, Sieghörtner came back to the 2nd basketball league in 2002/03 as a “stand-by” player, although his stakes were limited by his own injury problems.

After the end of his career as an active player, Sieghörtner first became the junior coach and coordinator of his last club, SV 03 Tübingen. The professional men's team managed to return to the top division in 2004 with the new name sponsor Walter AG as Walter Tigers Tübingen . After his former Tübingen team-mate Robert Wintermantel was appointed managing director of the professional gaming company in 2008, Sieghörtner initially also took on the duties of sporting director . As a result, however, mainly winter coats appeared in public during player engagements, while Sieghörtner apparently concentrated on his work as coach of the reserve team in the regional league and as head of the junior division in the non-professional area of SV 03 and also with the Walter Tigers outwardly was no longer referred to as a leader, but as a coordinator.
