Clemens Friedrich Freiherr Droste zu Hülshoff (born May 28, 1837 in Hülshoff Castle ; † December 6, 1919 in Haus Stapel ) was the district administrator in Büren and owner of Haus Stapel.

Clemens Friedrich von Droste zu Hülshoff was the fourth son of Werner-Constantin von Droste zu Hülshoff (1798 to 1867), a brother of the poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff , and his wife Caroline Freifrau von Wendt (1802 to 1881) Generation of his family. His siblings were u. a. Heinrich von Droste zu Hülshoff , Ferdinand von Droste zu Hülshoff , Carl Caspar von Droste zu Hülshoff and Elisabeth von Droste zu Hülshoff .

education and profession

He studied law and in 1871 was appointed royal Prussian district administrator for the Büren district . Since he refused to carry out the Kulturkampf Laws enacted by Bismarck , he, like his eldest brother Heinrich, was deposed in 1875.

family

In 1873 he had in house Böddeken with Maria von Mallinckrodt (born November 7 1873 in Böddeken; † 22 January 1922 in Haus stack) married. From this marriage there were seven children. His third son Clemens von Droste zu Hülshoff became district administrator in the Höxter district (1816–1974) .

In 1882 he took over the house of Stapel from the family of his uncle Heinrich Johannes von Droste- Kerckerinck (1808–1872). In 1882 he donated the still existing Marienstift in Havixbeck , which served the town as a hospital for almost 100 years and was converted into a nursing home for the elderly in 1978.
