The Saab Arena is a multi-purpose hall in the Swedish city of Linkoping , province County Östergötland . The Saab Group has held the naming rights to the arena since June 2014 . Previously, the naming rights from 2003 to 2014 were held by the Finnish- Swedish candy manufacturer Cloetta Fazer . At that time the hall was called the Cloetta Center .
The Saab Arena is the fourth largest event hall in Sweden after the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm , the Scandinavium in Gothenburg and the Malmö Arena and is mainly used for ice hockey games and concerts . The Linköpings HC from the Svenska Hockey Ligan bears since the opening in 2004 of its home games at the stadium. Some of the most famous musicians and bands who gave concerts at the Cloetta Center include Europe , Toto , John Fogerty , Meat Loaf , WASP and Whitesnake . In 2005, 2008 and 2017, a preliminary round of the Melodifestivalen , the Swedish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest , took place in Linköping.
The hall was also one of the venues for the 2011 men's handball world championship . In 2016 the arena applied to host the Eurovision Song Contest .
