The theme of the war trauma of the painter Jasmin is. Primarily it is about a triangular relationship between Jasmin and the lecturer Lukas, who is also a friend of her daughter Marija. Marija comes from a rape of Jasmin during the war in Bosnia . Jasmin was only fifteen at the time and gave birth to her daughter when she was sixteen. After she fled to Berlin , she raised the girl there all by herself. The young woman still suffers from nightmares in which she sees herself transported back to the dire situation at the time, and then wakes up bathed in sweat.

Since Jasmin always kept quiet about her daughter when she wanted to know something about her father, one day she confronts Marija with the assumption that her mother is prostituting herself and that she is the product of love that can be bought. Even now, Jasmin cannot bring herself to tell her daughter the truth.

The background of the film is the conflict between Serbs and Bosnian Muslims , which is dealt with discreetly.

Production, publication

The film was produced in collaboration with Fridamovies Germany. The music was composed by RUIN & soloist ensemble Kaleidoskop. Among other things, the song Satan Comes, Satan Leaves can be heard.

Close Enough was seen for the first time on February 7, 2014 at the Berlin independent film festival “Boddinale”. It was also presented at the 2nd International Movie Festival, Kino Sputnik, as well as at the Bildrausch Festival in Berlin.
