Cluvenhagen is a village in spots Langwedel the district Verden in Lower Saxony and since 1968 a district of Etelsen .

Cluvenhagen is located in the Mittelweser region .

history

The place name Cluvenhagen has existed since the Middle Ages. The Clüver family of knights living in and around Bremen and Verden (Aller) already had a residence in Cluvenhagen and used the surname Cluvenhagen . Since the Clüvers also had a residence in Clüversborstel , it can be assumed that it was not the places that gave their names to the knight family, but that the knight family gave their names to the places.

The Statistical Handbook for the Kingdom of Hanover speaks of Cluvenhagen as a village with 15 residential buildings and 99 inhabitants in 1848. The village of Cluvenhagen was combined as a community association with the neighboring settlements of Lindholz (3 courtyards with 17 residents), Speckerholz and Speckerfelde (6 houses with 50 residents) and Wurth near Lessel (5 houses and 23 residents). The aristocratic estates Lessel (4 buildings and 26 residents) and Lindholz (2 buildings and 12 residents) were also located near the village, which were separated from the community association.

Politics and voter behavior

The district of Cluvenhagen, which is incorporated into Etelsen, is democratically represented by the Etelsen local council. In the local council election Etelsen 2011, 2,132 Cluvenhageners in the constituencies of Cluvenhagen 1 and Cluvenhagen 2 were eligible to vote. There was a turnout of 39.07% and the following result:

Economy and Transport

The national road 158 leads through Cluvenhagen. Cluvenhagen is therefore conveniently located on a main connection between Bremen and Verden or Hanover . From this main street a number of mostly traffic-calmed streets and 30 km zones lead through the residential areas of the place.

Below the village, the Weser-Schleusen-Kanal (8.51 km in length) runs in the marshland, which shortens a loop of the Weser for inland navigation. The Langwedel lock is located at Cluvenhagen .

Cluvenhagen has several resident retail and catering establishments.

Public and non-commercial entities

Cluvenhagen has several socio-educational facilities: a school camp located in the adjacent forest, the Waldheim Foundation, which operates a dormitory for people with disabilities and associated work and support opportunities, and a kindergarten with 87 children (as of 2007).

Cluvenhagen also has a volunteer fire brigade that belongs to the Langwedel municipal fire brigade.

There is no church in the district.

Tourism and culture

Cluvenhagen lies in the middle Weser region whose tourist appeal, according Mittelweser Touristik GmbH in rural idyll , paradise for cyclists and waterscapes located. In this respect, Cluvenhagen is particularly suitable as a starting point for bike tours between Bremen and Verden or for canoe tours on the Aller or Weser .

Cluvenhagen is still on the Lower Saxony Mühlenstrasse and the German Fairy Tale Route .

One attraction is the Cluvenhagener See , which is located in a forest area and, with its light sand, is particularly popular in summer. However, it is not an officially approved swimming lake.

In addition to the school camp as an overnight accommodation option for children and youth groups, the Landhaus am Deich near the village in the Wesermarsch offers overnight accommodation for tourists.

The cultural life in Cluvenhagen is shaped by the three sports clubs: the sports club TSV Cluvenhagen, the handball club HSG Cluvenhagen-Langwedel and the shooting club Cluvenhagen. The regular events of village life all take place on or next to the Cluvenhagen sports field: harvest festival, shooting festival, Christmas market, Easter bonfire, ascension tournament (handball).
